Antigua is beautiful. I’ve never had the pleasure of going there before so this was a totally new experience for me. We get off the boat and grab a cab to the beach. The cab ride was awesome. Our driver, Anthony (pronounced AnTony), essentially gave us a tour of the island and would regale us with stories and life antidotes such as “Don’t worry! Be Happy!” He also taught us some dialect (which I wasn’t very good at), but he made the trip there and back so enjoyable! If you happen to stop in Antigua and are in need of a cab, ask for Anthony. He’ll make your trip the destination!
After Anthony dropped us off at the beach we proceeded to lounge and do nothing except go in the water (which was magnificent) and catch up on our reading.
The crowds would come and go as locals sold a variety of merchandise along the shore.
At some point my mom and I took a walk along the beach, admiring the different resorts and planning our next vacation after we won the lottery.
Do you notice how sunburned we got? The bro forgot to put sunscreen on his face and with his glasses he sported a lovely raccoon look for the remainder of the vacation. I on the other hand had a lovely red halo just along my hairline which made washing or brushing it torture. The sun hates me. I’m convinced.
Before we knew it though, Anthony was picking us up again and we were back on the ship ready for a new port and a new day. We said our farewells to beautiful Antigua, vowing to come back and explore some of the other wonderful beaches.
