I was asked by invaluable.com to check out their website and do a post on what my dream literary collection would be.  They’re an online auction house, with new things being added every day.  I thought it was a fun idea, so I jumped at the chance!

I’ve listed some of my dream items below:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – 1st ed. signed

H0442-L80919419               H0442-L80919420

Definitely number one on my list.  I’m a HUGE Harry Potter fan.  To own a first edition signed by J.K. Rowling would be ::amazing:: <–that’s in my sing song voice.

J.R.R. Tolkein – Letter written by his secretary with additional autographed note by him

H0442-L80919387 H0442-L80919388

I was always fascinated by J.R.R. Tolkien and his writing group the Inklings which included fellow novelist, C.S. Lewis.  I even went to The Eagle and Child in Oxford where they would meet.  I still have yet to read Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit (::hangs head in shame::), but I will! I promise! I’m such a fan of the stories though, especially after seeing the movies, that this would be awesome to own.  I’ll put it next to my LOTR collection on my bookshelf….that I will eventually read.

Agatha Christie – Signed Letter

H0132-L80699235

I was such an Agatha Christie fiend when I was younger, especially her Hercule Poirot series.  I must have read all of them before I graduated middle school.  I’d love to have this letter written by her discussing her favorite Belgian detective.

Winnie the Pooh – 1st ed.

H0961-L81082416

This one is for the bro.  He was OBSESSED with Winnie the Pooh when he was a toddler.  He would watch that show religiously.  My parents always knew when he wanted to watch it cause he would tell them, “I want Poooohhh.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe – 1st. ed.

H0442-L80919304

Another member of the Inklings.  I’d love to add this first edition to my collection.

Alice in Wonderland – 1st. ed signed

H0062-L81410152 H0062-L81822057

I’ve always enjoyed Alice in Wonderland, but after having visited Oxford and seen where Lewis Carroll wrote his stories, I’ve fallen even more in love with it.  This first edition is signed by him to cousin, Mary Knight.

William Shakespeare: Comedies, Histories, and Tragedies – Fourth Folio

H0132-L80464231 H0132-L80464244

As you all know, I did my MA in Shakespearean Studies in London.  I would LOVE to own this Fourth Folio copy of his works.  I mean COME ON.
