So my friend, Meesh, and I had planned on going to Austin, TX for New Years. When that didn’t pan out we decided to reroute to Boston. I know what you’re thinking, “But it’s so COLD in Boston!” We actually lucked out! We had such warm weather that some days with my coat, I was too warm.
We had an absolutely fantastic time, minus a few hiccups, but I’ll get to those.
Of course, you all know mine and Meesh’s talent for overpacking. What made you think this trip would be any different? #wewereonlythere5days
After we settled in, we went out for some sushi then made our way to the hotel bar. #priorities.
We were super pumped to be in Boston!
That night we slept like babies. We had about 4 hours of sleep between the two of us the previous night. Meesh was up at 3am to drive her sister to the airport and I was recording songs for Musical 2 till around 4am. This was a much needed break!
The morning of New Year’s eve we woke up refreshed and ready to go see this historic city. We made our way over to Faneuil Hall to see the sites and do some shopping. On our way we passed what we lovingly dubbed, “DIGH-agon alley” <– anyone who’s seen HP2 will know that pronunciation.
We passed the place where everybody knows your name.
We really worked up an appetite with all the shopping we did so we decided to get some New England seafood at the Union Oyster House.
We had to order oysters of course!
We both had the scallops and they were delicious! After stuffing our faces, we did some more last minute shopping before heading back to the hotel to get ready for that night and that’s when it all went downhill.
I had gotten dressed and started putting on my makeup when all of a sudden I felt nauseated.
“Uhh, Meesh? I don’t feel so good. I think I have to throw up.”
And then I proceeded to do just that. In my bra, sparkly skirt, and slippers (yes, we both brought our slippers because HELLO–comfort).
I laid down on the bed for a bit to see if I would feel any better afterwards. I was really trying to rally because I didn’t want to ruin Meesh’s New Year! In which she responded,
“Pas, twist my arm to get out of my contacts and put on my pjs. Really.”
So after the second time I threw up (TMI?) we decided to cut our losses and stay in. NOT how I had planned on spending my New Year’s. At that point, I had graduated to my pajama top instead of just my bra and sparkly skirt. I was so disappointed because ladies and gentlemen, my eye makeup was on point. All I had left to do was put on my mascara. Meesh decided she had to document it.
These were the hot outfits we had planned to wear that night.
How cute would we have looked?! I mean come on.
Instead we made a pilgrimage to the vending machine to see if we could find me some ginger ale. No such luck, but they did have pepto! A God-send. Still though, not how we imagined this night going!
Once back in the room, we changed into our PJ’s and watched the ball drop on TV. Down to the last moments, 2015 was trying to kick our butts. The TV started to glitch literally the last 20 seconds and we thought we’d miss the countdown. We turned it off and on again and managed to make it with 15 seconds to spare! Meesh was beyond happy that 2015 was over. See evidence below.
