All her life, nineteen-year-old Liesl has heard tales of the beautiful, mysterious Goblin King. He is the Lord of Mischief, the Ruler Underground, and the muse around which her music is composed. Yet, as Liesl helps shoulder the burden of running her family’s inn, her dreams of composition and childish fancies about the Goblin King must be set aside in favor of more practical concerns.
But when her sister Käthe is taken by the goblins, Liesl journeys to their realm to rescue her sister and return her to the world above. The Goblin King agrees to let Käthe go—for a price. The life of a maiden must be given to the land, in accordance with the old laws. A life for a life, he says. Without sacrifice, nothing good can grow. Without death, there can be no rebirth. In exchange for her sister’s freedom, Liesl offers her hand in marriage to the Goblin King. He accepts.
Down in the Underground, Liesl discovers that the Goblin King still inspires her—musically, physically, emotionally. Yet even as her talent blossoms, Liesl’s life is slowly fading away, the price she paid for becoming the Goblin King’s bride. As the two of them grow closer, they must learn just what it is they are each willing to sacrifice: her life, her music, or the end of the world.
Crooked Kingdom Launch Party!
I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Crooked Kingdom’s launch party with Leight Bardugo and Jesse the Reader at The Strand. It was a crazy night filled with lines, friends, and cookies.
I arrive relatively early to get on line because I KNEW it was going to be crazy town. I meet up with my friend Jenn and later with Christina and Emma.

June Wrap Up in Books
I’m so sorry this post is so late, but as you can see this month has been nuts! I’m surprised I got through as much as I did! I was moving and learning a show in 9 days! My reading took a bit of a backburner until I had settled everything (and learned all my music/lines). Still, some pretty great ones were read this month!

2016 #VASRP – Challenge 1
This summer, I’ll be participating in the 2016 Virtual Adult Summer Reading Program (#VASRP) hosted by Octavia over at Read.Sleep.Repeat and Valerie at He Said Books or Me. Were you ever a nerd like me and loved getting the summer reading lists from school/your library? I’d usually devour all my books within the first week of summer and then scramble to find more to read (I’d usually steal books off of my brother’s list…). One of my favorite books – Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier – I read off of a summer reading list. I always like to look at the Summer Reading list tables at my local library and Barnes and Noble each year to see which books made the cut and which ones have been shelved. What I love about this challenge is it’s the adult version, but WAY more fun since you get to pick the books!

I froze. Directly facing me was Olympic swimmer, Jay Morningstar… and I just made an idiot of myself.
The rest of the table looked up to see me standing there with my mouth practically gaping. His coach, who I recognized from TV interviews, and even two other swimmers from the Olympic team… they didn’t say anything, they didn’t even blink.
“Uh… I mean…”
I couldn’t even put together my words and Jay Morningstar was just staring at me with that Wheaties box smile and those icy blue eyes.
What was I supposed to say? Sorry I just made a weird noise, it’s just that I have a poster of you on my wall where you are wearing nothing more than your gold medals, a smile, and a pair of man panties?
