Have you ever tried a green smoothie? I resisted for the longest time because of what they’re made out of–“Wait what?? There’s spinach and kale in it? Doesn’t it taste gross?”
No, actually! They taste delicious!
I’m so glad I bit the bullet and finally tried one. It was during my half marathon training and I needed a way to get more protein into my diet. This was a great way to incorporate it. Believe it or not, you don’t end up tasting any of the “green stuff” at all. It takes the flavor of whatever else you want to put in it.
What’s great about Green Smoothies is you can make so many variations. This is just one of many I’ve made, but it’s up there as one of my favorites 🙂
Green Protein Smoothie
2 large handfuls of fresh spinach
1 cup fresh blueberries (you can use frozen as well)
1/2 frozen banana
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I use Aria)
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk of choice)
1/2 cup ice cubes
Put all the ingredients into a blender.
Mix that baby up until it reaches a liquid consistency.
Blend, baby, blend!
Don’t be weirded out by the color. Believe me, it tastes delicious!
I like to have mine right after a workout or a long run. It’s great for recovery!
Bottoms up!
