We leave today for upstate New York where our show, On the Air was selected as one of ten shows to partake in The PiTCH as part of The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival!
An Actor’s Wedding
I love weddings, don’t you? There’s always great food, dancing, and an excuse to act a little crazy. When it’s an actors wedding…well, we know how to go all out.
The bro and I were lucky to be invited to our friend Nicole’s wedding. Nicole and the bro did a little show called Les Miserables back in HS and then the three of us were in Godspell a few years later. Nicole is also one of those awesome friends who helped record the demo for On the Air. She is an absolute sweetheart who keeps me sane during audition season. Her husband, Rob, is a doll. I couldn’t be happier for the two of them!
Nicole and Rob were married at the Glen Island Harbour Club. OMG the gorgeousness. The ceremony took place in a room with panoramic views of the harbor. Simply gorgeous.
The Magic Trip: Savannah, GA and Washington, D.C.
The last leg of our Magic Trip has finally arrived. I know you’re all as sad as I am that it is ending. All you’ll get from now on are posts about food, books, and my daily life. Oh, you might want to stick around for some upcoming BIG events for On the Air (we’re talking HUGE people). I’ll leave you with that! MWAHAHA!
Robby and I stopped in Savannah, GA to grab dinner on our way home from Florida.
Of course we had to stop at Huey’s on River St. for the best shrimp and grits in town!
The Magic Trip: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Part 2)
Continuing the awesomeness from Part 1.
We were very fortunate to have come across a young gentleman in Disney World who had gone to Universal’s Harry Potter the first two days it opened. He gave us some sound advice as to what to look out for and how to deal with the Escape from Gringotts line. In case you were unaware, the first day it opened, there was a 7 hour wait!
Being the devout Harry Potter fans we are, Robby and I were prepared to wait the seven hours if need be. Luckily, we didn’t have to. He said the morning was the worst time and to wait until the afternoon. It lessens up considerably. Good thing because when we first arrived, this was the wait time:

Now, the Humans live in the solar system, Kline, where three planets are habitable. Joyal, the smallest planet, is embraced by the Humans – their family to love as they had never loved Earth. Though a planet covered mainly in water is dangerous real estate to dwell upon.
Their worry turns into devastating reality when Braita’s blessed village is struck by a tsunami. Population numbers must be kept to a minimum. Drastic measures must be taken. Braita’s life is twisted in brutality when she is chosen as one of the three hundred Humans to be removed from Joyal…and sent to the Mian, the aliens to fear, on the planet Triaz.
Thrown head first into a barbaric world she knows nothing of, Braita must adapt to a dark life as a slave of the Mian society. Her existence depends on it…and possibly, the fall of her heart.
The Magic Trip: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Part 1)
It’s happening. The post you’ve all been waiting for.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Part 1 (because the awesomeness couldn’t all fit in one post)
Robby and I first went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter when it first opened a few years ago. When we heard Diagon Alley would be opening this summer, we obviously had to go.
The first time we went to Hogsmeade we didn’t think it could get any better.
Oh, how wrong we were.
It was everything I was hoping for and more. Hogsmeade doesn’t even compare to Diagon Alley. Don’t ask me what the rest of the park was like because we literally spent two whole days just in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.
I’m just going to let the photos speak for themselves. Because. Yea.
The Magic Trip: Disney World (Be Our Guest Restaurant)
I feel like Be Our Guest Restaurant needed its own post. That’s how awesome it was.
One of the challenges in being an actor is it’s very hard to plan vacations in advance. You never know what your schedule is going to be. That’s why we ended up driving down to Disney World and Universal in the first place–it could be booked very last minute and not cost an absolute fortune like it would if I booked a flight somewhere. However, this posed a problem when I wanted to grab a reservation at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. Reservations could be made up to 180 days in advance!
For those of you unfamiliar with the Be Our Guest, it’s the restaurant in the new section of the Magic Kingdom that is modeled after the Beast’s castle in Beauty and the Beast. You know being the Belle fanatic I am, I just had to eat there.
We got our tickets for Disney about two weeks before we left, so I knew that getting a reservation was slim to none. I consoled myself with the fact that they offer a lunch counter service, so even though it wouldn’t be the same, I knew I would at least get in. I was determined though to get a dinner reservation.
This girl was on a mission!
I literally checked every single morning to see if there were any cancellations during our stay. Low and behold, three days before we left I got one! And for our last night in Disney! It was a great end to our Disney portion of the trip.

The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon–when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach–an “outlander”–in a Scotland torn by war and raiding Highland clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into intrigues and dangers that may threaten her life…and shatter her heart. For here she meets James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, and becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire…and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Where do I even begin with this amazing book?!
The Magic Trip: Disney World (Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios)
I remember when Animal Kingdom first opened (I know I’m aging myself here). Is that nuts?
I hate to say it, but it’s probably my least favorite of the parks. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great attractions, but Robby and I usually go through it in a couple of hours and then head out.
We started off with the Kilimanjaro Rapids and proceeded to get SOAKED. (see evidence below)
The Magic Trip: Disney World (Epcot)
Ahhh Epcot.
The only place you can eat and shop your way around the world in one spot. 😉
One of our first stops was to see our friend Karen who sings with The Voices of Liberty in America Square. Karen, Robby and I did a reading a few years ago in NYC. It was our first New York gig and Karen’s last! She decided to move down to FL after booking Disney. She’s such a sweet and lovely person and the group was fantastic!
