Cruisin’ Around: The Drive Down – Charleston, SC

My love affair with this city will never end.  Like for realz.  If I ever get rich and wanted to buy a summer home, I would get one in Charleston.  I absolutely love the vibe of this city and it’s a must-stop whenever I head down south.

You can stroll downtown Charleston and see the most colorful and extravagant houses.  It has a small town feel while still being a major metropolis.

Cruisin’ Around: The Drive Down – Washington, DC

Most people tend to take vacations after a hectic period in their lives; a time to unwind, relax, and recharge again.  This time around, I decided to be different.  I went on a lovely vacation with my family before the hectic-ness that will await me this fall.  What can I say? I like being different.

We drove down to Florida–gasp! That tends to be the reaction I get every time I tell them, but you know what? For every Florida vacation I’ve taken in my life, I’ve always driven down.  Frankly, I enjoy it a lot more because you get to stop along the way and see some of the beautiful cities and hidden gems that the East Coast is home to.

Our first stop was Washington, D.C.  Now when I say, I’ve practically seen everything in DC over the years, I mean it.  We ended up staying away from the Mall and went to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.  We had never been and Dad has been itching to go for awhile now.

I’m Back!

Woot! woot!

Did you miss me?

I was away on a lovely vacation with the family which you will all hear about in the next week or so 🙂  It was very relaxing and very much needed before the hectic-ness of this upcoming fall.

The next few weeks might be a bit strange in terms of scheduling, especially regarding reviews, because I have so many to post and catch up on! I was able to do a lot of reading while I was away so you might see more than one review a week 😉 You’re welcome world.

Now, I have to go back to laundry, food shopping, cleaning, and catching up on all the work I missed while I was away.  (I know you’re all envious).

I will leave you with this glory and wish that I was still there….sigh….

A Brief Hiatus

Hi All!

So like I said earlier, I’ll be taking a brief hiatus from the blog/social media for a bit, but DON’T PANIC (Yes, you).  I’ll be back mid August with some awesome posts/reviews/recipes!

There are some great things in the works and I can’t wait to share them all with you!!

See you soon!

The (Wo)Man on the Flying Trapeze

I did it (barely).  Another thing crossed off the bucket list!

I took a Trapeze Lesson at the NY Trapeze School and even though it was hard as fudgsicles, it was an awesomely fun time!  My friend Christie works there and has been trying to get me to go for ages.  I’m so glad I finally did!  Like I said though, it was HARD.  My arms still felt it a few days later…and my abs.  Getting on the bar was the hardest part.  At one point I got all tangled up in the wire.  Dallas, one of the instructors, did a great impression of me as I was flailing around like a drowned cat trying to get untangled.  Needless to say, I did manage to get some entertaining shots for you all.  Proof is below.

Here I am just about to jump off:

A Day at the Beach aka A Good Life Decision

So Thursday night I got a random text from my friend Meesh, “Hey! You wanna take a day trip to the beach tomorrow?”

Umm YES!

Who says no to the beach?

Now I need to give you some backstory.  Meesh and I are incapable of packing light….to go anywhere…for any immediate length of time.  Here we are with just OUR stuff when we stayed 2 nights at Atlantic City with the rest of our girlfriends.

Some Life Updates and a Bit of a Hiatus

Hi all!

I know I’ve been a bit MIA lately, solely posting book reviews (and shamefully ones I’ve had on backup).  I’ve been rather busy this month and am rather far behind on my reading schedule.

Ziplining Adventures

So one of the things on my bucket list is to go Ziplining.  I’ve always wanted to try it, but whenever I was places where I could (i.e. the Caribbean), I was leery of their safety measures.  Some of you might scoff at that, but hey, better safe than at the bottom of a jungle floor, I say!  Luckily, I found a place only an hour from me that did Zipline tours and managed to convince the bro and Meesh to tag along with me, to calm my fears for company’s sake.

We arrive and get set up with our gear.  You can see how terrified excited I am to get going!

The BEA 2015 Recap – Day 3

And we’ve come to the final day and final recap post of BEA 2015 🙁 I know, I know.  You’re all crying your eyes out as I am, BUT there’s always next year! So before we get into any more hysterics, I better go through my third day.

So originally, Friday was going to be the worst day of them all.  Apparently all the publishers decided to schedule all the authors I wanted at the same time that afternoon to sign their books.  Now, as a New Yorker, I’m pretty fast, but even I can’t be in 5 places at once! Luckily, the past two days I managed to grab some galleys which alleviated a majority of those signings so believe it or not, Friday turned out to be the lightest day in terms of crazy rushing! Yay for Galleys!

The BEA 2015 Recap – Day 2

After the craziness of running around on Wednesday, I was looking forward to a little more of a calming experience for Day 2, even if it was an earlier and longer day.

The main thing on the agenda this morning was grabbing Passenger by Alexandra Bracken.  I knew it was going to be ::crazy:: <–that’s in my sing song voice, so I was heading there first thing.  Meanwhile, the bro was headed to the James Dashner signing which was also going to be ::crazy::  Unfortunately for him, he didn’t find out until practically a foot from James, that he wasn’t signing his new book, The Game of Lives, but the first two books in the Maze Runner Series.  At that point he decided to just stay, but he was not happy after waiting that long only to learn they’re giving books he already has.  Meanwhile, on the Alexandra Bracken line, I was going a little nuts because it was taking FOREVER.
